Off of 42-57 you can turn left or right at Utah.  However, when east or west bound on Utah you can only turn right at 42-57. That means you can not cross 42-57.

To avoid a left turn on 42-57 you can take a more scenic route by turning to the east at Utah, then immediately turn right or south on 18th Place.  Then turn right on Memorial Drive and go under the Bayview Bridge to 15th Ave., then right or north to Utah and left or west to our house.  See red line on the map.

To go north on 42-57 we often take 12th, 15th or 18th to Michigan St. (green routes).  The Michigan St. crossing has the number 3 traffic light, so it is a bit safer.   There is actually four traffic lights now, but only three are numbered

Sankaty is  400 feet directly south of the Snug Harbor Inn with rustic, well kept water front rooms and about 700 feet south of the Leathem-Smith Lodge's  Casual Elegance that includes excellent dining with a slightly obstructed view of the water and comfortable, elegent rooms.    Leathem-Smith closed its doors in Dec of 07' Still no buyer as of summer 10'

At night Sankaty typically has two lights turned on. One in the far aft section of the boat is a very bright LED lamp with a blue hue that is bright enough to be seen at least one mile away; and has independent solar panel and controls.  The second one at the mid section of the boat is a solar powered walkway lamp that uses a AA rechargeable NiCad battery and gives off a bluish white light that is very faint and can barely be seen without straining your eyes at 2000 feet.  Sankaty is usually the only boat with a light of any kind. The reason I did it is because Sankaty is the boat closest to the channel where the boats go by at a high rate of speed and if they are off course by about 200 feet they could collide with Sankaty.
